"I have worked with Sheriff Braudis and his Department for over 17 years as a member of The Aspen Volunteer Fire Department. To understand the outstanding leadership ability of Bob Braudis, you only need to work an emergency operation with him or any of his Pitkin County Deputies. His leadership and professionalism have been a shining example of his “Neighbors helping neighbors” approach to law enforcement.
Rick BalentineDeputy Chief & EMS Director Aspen Vol. Fire Department
“I could write volumes about why Bob Braudis is the best Sheriff the county of Pitkin could ever hope to have. Look at how lucky we’ve been! Integrity, fairness, compassion the truth (yes, he’s blunt) all in one person. Bob knows and practices not only the law, but the spirit of the law. He treats everyone with dignity and respect, from the most affluent, renowned person Aspen has had the distinction of hosting, to the most destitute immigrant who is struggling to feed his family.”
Marie Munday,Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office: Deputy, Latino-Anglo Liaison, Victim Services Director, Public Information Officer, Past President: Rotary Club of Aspen
"I cannot conceive of a more capable candidate than Bob Braudis for Pitkin County Sheriff. Bob personifies the town, its people, and the philosophy that originally shaped the very essence of Aspen as we know it today. The heart and soul of those intangibles, so difficult to define, remain to be enjoyed, honored and treasured -- as long as we are determined to keep that very special spirit alive. "
Tracy Keenan Wynn, Writer, Producer, Director
"In our opinion, a good sheriff is strong, quiet, sophisticated and intelligent. And he must have a good measure of humility, respect and dignity. Our sheriff sets a high standard. Please vote to keep Bob Braudis in his job.
We want to thank Bob Braudis for giving local law enforcement a sophisticated, intelligent and dignified face for so many years."

"I believe that Bob Braudis is an effective sheriff largely *because* of his vulnerability and his intellect, not “in spite” of it.
My opinion was formed in the heat of battle literally. I witnessed his compassion and steadfast focus on the value of human life over ‘victory’ for law enforcement in what was truly a life-threatening situation. I forever changed my level of appreciation for law enforcement with grace and humility. I’m glad it happened early in my life.
I believe strongly in accountability. And I have issues, on occasion, with what I perceive to be leniency beyond reason with my friend, Bob Braudis. But I’m not walking in his shoes and I would always choose to err on the side of less rather than more so…
I endorse Bob’s candidacy without conditions."
Georgia Hanson, Executive Director Aspen Historical Society
"Sheriff Bob Braudis has earned a unique reputation in American law enforcement. Honest as the day is long, he is a one-of-a-kind hybrid: extraordinary beat cop, courageous leader and beat philosopher. Imbued with a Rocky Mountain libertarian spirit, he is the reason Pitkin County leads the nation in compassionate and smart law enforcement."
Doug Brinkley Historian, News Analyst, Author
"Bob is an adult who not only takes time to talk to kids, but also really knows how to listen.
I interviewed Bob for my TV show,The Spike Report and I was amazed how tuned-in he was to the issues that really matter to my peers."
Spike Lipkin host "The Spike Report" Grassroots TV
"Bob Braudis is a man of intelligence and compassion. His door is always open and he responds to phone calls and requests from community members. Bob has the courage to publicly state and to consistently defend his beliefs as well as to practice his beliefs. Bob also demonstrates his trust in the individual balanced with the safety of the community. These qualities make him an exemplary public servant. I have great admiration for this man of integrity."

"We love our eclectic valley made up of people from different backgrounds with different beliefs and different values, thanks to the leadership of Sheriff Bob, we are able to live in peace and harmony, tolerant and respectful of our variety and differences. He has served the youth and citizens of our community well. He has always been approachable to our youth. He respects their opinions as they do his. I want my 16 year old son to trust...not fear law enforcement. My son trusts Bob, so should you."

"I'm a lawyer and a father of a high school student here in Aspen. The reason many of us came to live in this magic valley is because of people like Bob Braudis. Sheriff Bob has created a safe and harmonious environment in which our hopes, our dreams and our children have thrived. His respect for an tolerance of our differences has helped to preserve the variety that makes this valley such a special and unique place to live and raise our families. With a steady, mature and even hand, Bob has taught his department and our community by his example for over 20 years. He is the single most enlightened and principled law enforcement officer I have ever had the privilege to meet. He has earned and deserves our continued support."Gerry Goldstein
"Bob Braudis: a thinking man's lawman! Its always great to have a sheriff who thinks before he shoots, whether we are talking about guns or mouths. Pitkin County is blessed to have a sheriff who puts mediation and conciliation before crime and punishment. When it comes to being a 'uniter not a divider, ' Bob is your man. Vote for him in November and keep Pitkin County special!"
Loren Jenkins former publisher and editor-in-chief of the The Aspen Times four decades of living in Aspen and voting in Pitkin County

“Bob Braudis is part of what makes Aspen Aspen. We need to nurture the people and few remaining places that keep Aspen the unique, character-rich place that it is, and keeping Sheriff Bob in office is definitely essential to that. He not only cares about this community and what Aspen is but he truly cares about the people in this community. I wouldn’t want to be in an Aspen that wasn’t protected by Bob Braudis.”

I have known Bob for many years as a dear friend, a professional, and a servant of our community. He possesses a unique combination of strength, compassion, and wisdom that have been honed and tested through decades of authentic engagement with thousands of people who cover the full gamut of humanity: poor and rich, saints and criminals, famous and infamous, babies and seniors, healthy and infirmed, sober and drunk, givers and takers, black and white, Anglo and Hispanic, depressed and inspired. He serves us all as a deeply trusted counselor, confidant, mediator, enforcer, and friend in need.
We are so very, very lucky that Bob is among us and has agreed to continue on as our sheriff. The biggest crime we could commit is to take Bob for granted and fail to give him our support. After all, he has supported each of us for many, many years.
Edward W. Bastian, Ph.D. President Spiritual Paths Institute
"Bob is an example of how Aspen remains "special"...he is a mix of new and old Aspen, he's forward thinking yet he doesn't lose sight of the history of this great town. I have been coming to Aspen since the late 60's and I feel as safe today as I did then. So, why mess with success?"
Michael Goldberg restaurateur and nightclub owner

Chris Davenport, Davenport MountainSport Inc.
"Over the past twenty years, in the course of my work as a journalist, I have met many senior figures, and politicians, concerned with both the formulation, and implementation, of law enforcement policies - all over the world, including in other states of the US. Of all of them, Bob Braudis is the most courageous, impressive, and innovative I have ever encountered.
I have been especially struck by the breadth of his vision and ambition for his community, and the vigour with which he has pursued both of those goals. I have talked to senior politicians here about certain of his initiatives, notably his policy of using civic resources to assist potential DWI offenders with getting home before they get behind the wheel, and certain of these politicians, like me, have expressed regret that we do not have the funds or the imagination to launch such schemes in the UK.
I cannot begin to believe that anybody in Aspen would want to vote against this public servant. In my mind, he is everything a sheriff should be."
Robert Chalmers, Contributing Editor, The Independent on Sunday
"Bob Braudis is widely known for his integrity, fairness and professionalism. At a time when too many law enforcement departments across America have suffered at times from over-zealous behavior, his Sheriff's team has never offered even a hint of power abuse. Bob is a "peace officer" in the finest sense of that term. He's probably the best sheriff Pitkin County has ever had."
John Bennett Former Mayor of Aspen (4 terms) Co-founder and Executive Director of the Cordoba Initiative Founding Executive Director of the Garrison Institute Vice Chair of the board of trustees of Naropa University

David Crutchfield Licensed Clinical Social Worker
"I have enormous admiration for Sheriff Bob Braudis - he makes one tough job look easy and positively ambassadorial. While a lot of people talk about "community", Bob walks the talk - he lives, breathes, and loves it. An integral part of this valley for nearly 40 years, he loves this community and has dedicated his life to serving it. As a result, Bob has gained immeasurable experience dealing with all segments of our always-evolving and ever-diversing population.
The cornerstones of Bob's expertise are respect, integrity, intelligence, and sensitivity. I love the fact that Bob is an every person's person. I've seen him interact with workers and millionaires and he treats everyone with the same thoughtfulness and good faith. A friend to everyone, he seems always willing and available to listen.
Armed with great intelligence and an open mind, Bob's one of our finest leaders, giving new meaning and great depth to a key safety position, the man with the badge. I'm honored to know and support Bob."
Laura Thielen, Executive Director Aspen Filmfest
"His decision making and policy is based on tolerance, compassion, experience and an understanding of our unique community."
Joe DiSalvo, director of Investigations Pitkin County Sheriff's office
"For those of us who knew him, there were always two Hunter Thompsons · the pyrotechnic Gonzo character of booze & drugs of his public persona and the amazingly engaging, caring and brilliant Southern gentleman who held court in private from his kitchen stool in his home in Woody Creek. Michael Cleverly and Bob Braudis have done a masterful job of presenting the latter Hunter S. Thompson in The Kitchen Readings, a tale of the smart, amusing and passionate soul behind the Gonzo mask. For anyone wanting to really understand the literary impetus for such modern classics as Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas and The Curse of Lono, this is a must read."
